Tin has been used for centuries as a coating on copper and bronze to provide a non-corrosive cooking medium. Many scientific studies have proven that tin entering the human body exits out without reacting or staying inside. It is believed that one of the secret ingredients to enhance the taste of Rasam is to cook in Pure Tin (eeya chombu in Tamil) Vessel. Since it is a soft metal, these vessels cannot be mass-produced with machines.This beautifully handcrafted .Tin vessel can be used to make Rasam,boil milk and for making Curd. Since Tin has a low melting point, it is always advised to cook liquid items to ensure the vessel does not get overheated. An empty tin vessel on flame melts this, hence avoiding it.
