Kalchatti – Everyday Sizes

Hand-carved from natural soapstone, this treated Kalchatti has a deep rounded form for curries, dals, sambhar, rasam, soups, rice and other moisture-rich dishes.

The dense stone warms gradually and retains heat. Natural variation in colour, texture, dimensions and weight is expected in every handmade vessel.

1. Before washing, fill with water, boil on a low flame, allow it to cool and repeat four times.
2. For the first ten uses, cook rice, millet or dal on low flame.
3. For the first month, prefer food cooked with water and use low or medium heat.

• Do not heat the vessel empty; begin on low heat and increase gradually.
• Avoid sudden temperature changes, direct high flame, deep frying and tempering in the vessel.
• Cool naturally before washing and avoid harsh abrasives.
